WRITERS and musicians often fixate on certain landscapes at certain times. For Thoreau in the 1840s it was Walden Pond. For Madonna in the 1980s it was her body. For the rapper-producer El-P (birth name Jaime Meline) in the '00s it's post-9/11 New York.

I highly recommend doing this since you cannot truly appreciate these works of art at low resolution. They are numbered in descending order from bad to worst.

If you think about it most of the rappers that achieve any success are really great marketers. These people come from the mean city streets with no money and rudimentary education to become rich superstars. And they don't even sing! It's all spoken to a rhythm with rhyme.
